CONVENT PARK LIBRARY

CONVENT PARK LIBRARY

Harlem, New York
Civic / Cultural / Mass Timber

Convent Park Library is conceived as a contemporary civic space bringing together reading, music, performance, collaboration, and community. The project combines the warmth of exposed mass timber with a limestone exterior, balancing solidity, transparency, daylight, and material expression.

MASS TIMBER + STONE

The building uses CLT and glulam as its primary structural system. A high-performance limestone rainscreen envelope combines environmental performance with the permanence and civic character of stone.

THE MUSIC ATRIUM

A central atrium connects the floors visually and physically. Reading areas, recording studios, informal gathering spaces, and performance-oriented programs surround this shared interior space, establishing music as an integral part of the library rather than a separate function.
